Role Overview

Ozow seeks an Agentic AI Engineer to join the team in Cape Town. The position focuses on building AI agents that automate tasks across engineering, risk, operations, and support workflows, ensuring safe deployment in a regulated payments environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver at least one agent feature to production within the first six months, complete with evaluation tests.

Collaborate with product, operations, and risk departments to analyze processes supported by agents.

Develop and maintain agent workflows including tool calling, prompt design, RAG, and multi-task orchestration.

Connect agents securely to internal data sources and APIs.

Write tested code meeting team standards and monitor production agents to triage and fix failures.

Adhere to security, release, and change management processes while handling personal and financial data responsibly.

Requirements

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Proficiency in Python alongside familiarity with JSON and REST APIs.

Practical experience working with at least one LLM API via personal projects, GitHub repositories, or production environments.

Foundational knowledge of prompt engineering, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation.

Experience with Git and working knowledge of Docker.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with agent frameworks such as CrewAI, LangGraph, or agent SDKs, as well as MCP.

Experience with AWS, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, C#, or .NET.

Interest in financial services, payments, or fraud detection.

Skills and Tools

Python, REST APIs, JSON, Git, Docker, LLM APIs, RAG, and prompt engineering.

Optional tools include LangGraph, CrewAI, AWS, C#, .NET, and SQL.
