Future of Life Institute

The Future of Life Institute (FLI) works on reducing extreme risks from transformative technologies, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and nuclear weapons. FLI serves the global community through policy advocacy, research, futures programming, communications, and grantmaking to ensure that powerful technology benefits humanity. Within AI and machine learning, the organization engages in policy advocacy, develops governance frameworks like the Asilomar AI governance principles, produces research-backed scenarios, and addresses risks at the intersection of AI and nuclear, biological, and cyber threats.
