SEON is seeking a Test Engineer to join the engineering team for a hybrid position in Budapest with remote flexibility. This role suits an experienced QA professional with a strong coding background who wants to shape AI-native quality models and automation frameworks.

Role Overview

As a Test Engineer at SEON, the individual will take full ownership of end-to-end quality outcomes for the core Scoring engine. Operating as a technical expert within the team, the professional will focus heavily on high-leverage test engineering rather than manual testing. The position involves driving an AI-native quality model where defect prevention starts upstream prior to code writing, building new testing methodologies from scratch, and enhancing existing frameworks for team-wide advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Own the quality architecture for the Scoring engine by prioritizing test strategies according to real-world risk and standardizing reusable repository patterns.
Create dependable automated test coverage spanning UI, API, and deep service layers utilizing BMAD and TeA shift-left methodologies.
Utilize AI-first IDEs and specialized agents daily to scale test coverage efficiently across unit, integration, and component layers.
Act as an AI-First Test Engineer during pull request reviews using BMAD-TeA to enforce quality gates and catch edge cases or boundary violations missed by AI coding agents.
Integrate k6 performance smoke tests, Pact contract testing, and integration tests into CI/CD pipelines to prevent cross-service regressions.
Evaluate emerging AI testing tools and share advanced prompting strategies with colleagues to boost overall engineering velocity.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of QA automation experience alongside extensive knowledge of REST APIs and event-driven systems.
Practical coding expertise in Java and test automation experience utilizing Playwright with TypeScript.
Demonstrable background in leveraging AI-driven development or test generation methodologies to scale automation coverage.
Ability to treat AI-generated code as a foundation, applying engineering judgment to spot and fix logic errors or hallucinations.
Track record of building and overseeing automated merge gates within CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
Strong communication skills to clearly articulate system health and trade-offs during feature discussions.
Exceptional documentation practices, creating detailed pull request descriptions and technical inputs.

Nice to Have

Practical background working within the BMAD framework for agile AI-driven development.
Prior experience utilizing service virtualization tools like WireMock or engaging in Pact contract testing.
