Role Overview

AfterQuery is looking for a Strategic Projects Lead to join the team in San Francisco. Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with leading artificial intelligence organizations to build advanced data solutions that expand model capabilities and generate revenue.
Lead and coordinate specialized contributors across various disciplines, including law, software engineering, and finance, to deliver high-quality outputs at scale.
Design dataset specifications that directly impact how foundation models are evaluated, trained, and improved.
Manage critical projects end-to-end, taking responsibility for scoping, executing, iterating, and shipping within a fast-moving environment.
Support various operational initiatives across multiple parts of the business, including building, analyzing, coordinating, and executing.

Requirements

Completed or ABD PhD in mathematics, biology, chemistry, data analytics, statistics, or a related STEM field, or equivalent demonstrated excellence as a Putnam top 500 finisher, USAPhO or IMO medalist, IOI medalist, or USACO or ICPC finalist.
Background in computational modeling, scientific research, experimental design, or quantitative and statistical analysis.
Deep understanding of disciplinary fundamentals alongside strong systems-level and quantitative reasoning.
High agency, strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive with minimal direction in ambiguous situations.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
Genuine passion for artificial intelligence and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Demonstrated competitive success such as research awards, publications, fellowships, or specified medals and finals.

Nice to Have

Prior experience using Python, R, or another language dedicated to data analysis.
Familiarity with the fine-tuning, training, or evaluation of large language models.
Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and workflows.
