Role Overview

As a Strategic Projects Lead - Legal, the selected candidate collaborates directly with frontier artificial intelligence labs to identify their legal data requirements, design comprehensive deliverable programs, and drive revenue. This position sits at the intersection of law and advanced machine learning, helping shape how artificial intelligence systems understand and process legal reasoning.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with frontier artificial intelligence labs to scope legal data and evaluation needs, translating requirements into actionable deliverables.
Recruit, lead, and manage teams of expert contractor attorneys and specialists across multiple practice areas such as litigation, corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, tax, and employment.
Design precise specifications for legal reasoning datasets, contract and document review tasks, statutory interpretation problems, and multi-step research workflows.
Establish grading standards and evaluation criteria to distinguish accurate legal reasoning from superficial responses, ensuring citation integrity and jurisdictional accuracy.
Execute projects end-to-end from initial scoping through final delivery in dynamic environments with evolving specifications.
Support broader operational initiatives involving building, analysis, and team coordination.

Requirements

Three or more years of experience practicing law at a leading firm, in-house organization, government regulatory body, or legal artificial intelligence startup.
Possess a JD or equivalent legal qualification with a proven track record of substantive legal work including drafting, negotiating, litigating, or advising.
Deep command of legal reasoning, research methodology, and rigorous analytical standards.
High agency and ability to execute tasks in ambiguous settings.
Strong analytical capabilities to break down complex legal problems into component parts.
Demonstrated competitive success along with strong leadership and communication skills.
Genuine passion for artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship, alongside comfort working with data and artificial intelligence tools.

Nice to Have

Proficiency in Python or hands-on experience conducting data analysis.
Prior background working with legal technology, e-discovery, contract analytics, or artificial intelligence-assisted legal workflows.
Depth of experience in technically demanding practice areas such as securities, antitrust, tax, patent prosecution, or complex regulatory matters.
Multi-jurisdictional or non-United States legal experience.
Experience leveraging artificial intelligence tools to automate workflows and build products.
