Fanvue is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for a remote position with options to use the London office. This full-time role suits an experienced engineering professional with a background in building large-scale distributed systems and AI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Drive technical projects focused on platform scalability and reliability during a period of triple-digit growth.
Transition the existing PostgreSQL system to a robust event-driven architecture designed to support tens of millions of monthly active users.
Execute monolith-to-services decomposition utilizing established domain-driven design and Strangler Fig patterns.
Optimize databases to securely handle high-throughput workloads.
Construct and scale AI infrastructure encompassing vector stores, embedding pipelines, and LLM orchestration.
Architect systems supporting automated chat, content moderation, and recommendation features.
Leverage AI coding assistants like Cursor and Claude Code to speed up delivery and establish team benchmarks.
Create foundational platform primitives allowing other engineering squads to release features faster.
Take part in incident response protocols and champion continuous reliability enhancements.
Shape overall architecture decisions and technical strategies.

Requirements

Ten or more years of practical software engineering experience creating solutions at scale.
Demonstrated history working with distributed systems that serve tens of millions of monthly active users.
Extensive knowledge in Node.js, TypeScript, Go, and AWS.
Advanced practical background handling large-scale PostgreSQL environments, including replication, query tuning, and partitioning.
Familiarity with service-oriented architectures and migration strategies.
Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning infrastructure such as vector databases and LLM APIs.
Proficiency in AI-assisted development tools.
Excellent communication skills capable of explaining intricate technical details to diverse audiences.
