Role Overview

Upside is looking for the first engineering hire on a brand-new internal platform initiative within the Revenue Operations department. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Revenue Operations, the professional in this role operates as a forward-deployed engineer. They will embed directly with business teams, understand their operational workflows firsthand, and design solutions that replace cumbersome legacy tools with an AI-native orchestrating substrate.

Key Responsibilities

Build the initial version of an AI-native platform for go-to-market teams, covering automation, agentic orchestration, and daily interfaces.
Embed directly with revenue groups to study their processes and ship systems that transform how work gets done.
Define technical direction, make architectural decisions, select tools, and establish growth patterns for the platform.
Transition prototypes to production rapidly and adapt continuously as artificial intelligence capabilities evolve.
Anchor daily work to business outcomes rather than just closed tickets.
Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure technical solutions remain sound and supportable.
Document architectural choices and trade-offs clearly for future team members.

Requirements

Staff-level engineering background with roughly eight years of professional depth, demonstrating a history of end-to-end system ownership.
Demonstrated experience taking greenfield systems, early-stage products, or internal platforms from zero to one.
Production-level experience working with Large Language Models and AI APIs, including output evaluation, prompt design, and reliability iteration.
Active fluency with AI-assisted development tools as a core part of the workflow.
Strong technical judgment regarding trade-offs, refactoring, and pivoting as project requirements shift.
Genuine curiosity about business operations, revenue teams, and how they function.
Ability to navigate high levels of ambiguity and independence while keeping stakeholders informed.
Clear communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

Understanding of CRM and revenue data models such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
Background as a founding or early-stage engineer at a startup, or experience building an internal tooling function.
Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and embedding-based search.
Professional background in marketplace or high-growth environments.
Experience working with modern data platforms including Snowflake.
