Role Overview

almedia is hiring a Staff Data Scientist for its Berlin office. The professional in this position will take ownership of meaningful challenges at scale, focusing on measurement strategy, experimentation infrastructure, and high-leverage data products that influence unit economics.

Key Responsibilities

Design causal frameworks that reveal unit economics, attribution, and intervention impact while owning documentation standards.
Build experimentation platforms that enable rapid iteration and define statistical rigor without slowing down delivery.
Identify and manage models that impact pricing, ranking, and user incentive systems, partnering with engineering to take them into production.
Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior team members, setting the bar for causality and trade-offs, and resolving stakeholder disagreements.
Collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Leadership functions to translate analytical insights into direct business actions.

Requirements

Demonstrated autonomy with a track record of improving unit economics through novel approaches and end-to-end problem ownership.
Extensive experience with causal inference methodologies including propensity matching, difference-in-differences, synthetic control, and instrumental variable estimation.
Expertise in experimentation, including leading complex multi-arm tests and designing or owning media mix modeling, multi-touch attribution, or uplift modeling systems.
Production maturity involving the deployment of models within product environments, with a preference for gaming, adtech, or user incentive systems.
Fluency in modern data stacks including dbt, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
Strong communication skills to drive clarity in ambiguous scenarios and translate complex analysis into actionable decisions.
