About this role

The Staff AI Researcher position at The Biological Computing Co. in San Francisco involves setting the technical direction for video generation models that enable robots to learn and act through simulated futures. This hands-on leadership role suits an experienced machine learning professional who can solve foundational research challenges and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Role Overview

The Biological Computing Co. seeks a Staff AI Researcher to guide technical choices for generative video platforms. Located in San Francisco, this full-time role focuses on translating insights from biological neural networks and experiments into deployable software systems. The person in this position will work directly with founders, computational neuroscientists, engineers, and product leaders to shape next-generation AI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Shape technical strategy for generative video platforms across modeling, training, evaluation, and deployment.
Create video generation models featuring expressive latent representations, stable rollouts, and control-oriented predictions.
Enhance long-horizon rollout fidelity for autoregressive applications beyond single-step accuracy.
Incorporate video priors, physical structures, or object-centric representations into control mechanisms.
Identify architectural and scaling obstacles proactively to prevent research or deployment delays.
Define technical standards, direct research choices, and support team development through mentorship.

Requirements

Background in machine learning, computer vision, robotics, or a related discipline.
Practical knowledge in generative models like diffusion, autoregressive video, or sequence models; model-based reinforcement learning; or physics-informed learning and simulation.
Demonstrated technical judgment with a history of impactful architectural choices.
Competence in handling ambiguous research tasks from first principles to final evaluation.
Capacity to work across the complete technology stack, including training systems and deployment.
Expertise in computer vision and generative modeling with hands-on diffusion or autoregressive video model background.

Nice to Have

Master of Science or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Research or industry background in video generation, embodied AI, robot learning, or learned simulation.
Background in training policies inside learned simulators or over imagined trajectories.
Familiarity with action-conditioned video prediction, controllable generative models, or connecting models to robotic systems.
Experience with latent-action models, cross-embodiment learning, digital twins, sim-to-real transfer, or distributed training environments.
Publications in prominent machine learning, computer vision, or robotics venues.
