About this role
AirTrunk needs an experienced engineer to solve the challenge of taking complex agentic AI applications from early prototypes to reliable, secure production operation. This role exists to bridge the gap between applied artificial intelligence and scalable software architecture within a rapidly growing hyperscale data centre company.
The team builds agentic systems that can plan tasks, utilize tools, and carry out multi-step work while maintaining strict privacy and security controls. The person in this position will design and deliver these AI applications, write production code, and establish automated testing alongside agent evaluations. Ideal candidates combine deep technical expertise in software engineering and artificial intelligence with strong leadership capabilities to guide architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate across product, data, platform, and security teams.
What you will do
- Design and build autonomous AI agents capable of planning tasks, utilizing tools, and adapting to results in production environments.
- Develop and review production code while shaping application architecture alongside Product and Data teams.
- Establish automated tests, agent evaluations, and controlled release processes to monitor task success, speed, and cost.
- Collaborate with Platform engineers to support deployment and operational readiness across cloud services.
- Integrate privacy, security, and responsible AI controls into agent designs to manage risk and ensure safe execution.
- Lead complex technical initiatives, make architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers within the Data and AI community.
What you need
- Ten or more years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated background in delivering and operating complex production systems, including agentic applications using tools and orchestration.
- Strong software architecture skills spanning APIs, backend services, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and solid engineering fundamentals, supplemented by a working knowledge of SQL.
- Practical understanding of context engineering, memory management, and agent evaluation methodologies.
- Experience delivering secure cloud applications using CI/CD, containers, and observability tools in partnership with platform teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure and Databricks, or comparable cloud and AI platforms
- Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript and web application development
- Experience with agent SDKs, MCP integrations, and AI-assisted software development
