About this role

This remote Staff AI Enablement Engineer position at Talkiatry focuses on defining and driving generative AI and automation across the engineering organization. The role suits an experienced builder and technical leader looking to directly impact developer productivity and modernize core healthcare workflows.

Role Overview

Talkiatry is hiring a Staff AI Enablement Engineer for a remote position to lead generative AI initiatives and automation strategies. This is a hands-on builder role intended to make engineering teams faster while modernizing rules-based business systems with data-driven approaches. The individual will work closely with engineering and product leaders to design working automations and shape the adoption of AI coding assistants.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the subject-matter expert on generative AI, agentic systems, and AI-assisted software development by evaluating durable capabilities against hype.
Diagnose team-level workflows and tool gaps through direct collaboration with engineering teams to build a prioritized backlog.
Own the end-to-end AI enablement roadmap, secure leadership buy-in, execute development, and report on organizational impact.
Evaluate, pilot, and drive the adoption of AI coding assistants and agentic developer tools tailored to the team size and stack.
Design, build, and operate specialized automation agents addressing high-friction engineering and operational workflows.
Measure automation impact including time saved, quality improvements, and adoption rates, iterating based on usage.
Partner with data and clinical stakeholders to transform rules-based or heuristic systems into data-driven and machine learning-informed architectures.
Define lightweight adoption frameworks and governance guardrails covering quality, security, cost, and responsible usage.
Champion AI best practices through documentation, demos, brown bags, and hands-on pairing.
Communicate technical tradeoffs regarding build versus buy, cost, latency, quality, and risk to both engineers and leadership.

Requirements

Eight or more years of experience in software engineering with a history of shipping end-to-end production systems.
Hands-on experience building with large language models and agentic systems, covering prompt engineering, context and tool design, evaluation, and orchestration.
Production-level experience with modern AI coding assistants and agentic developer tools with a clear perspective on value addition.
Working knowledge of applied machine learning fundamentals to transition heuristic systems toward proper machine learning approaches.
Proven ability to drive technical adoption across an organization through credibility, clear communication, and working software without direct authority.
Strong product instincts for internal tooling, iterative shipping, and prioritizing user needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with comfort presenting roadmaps and tradeoffs to engineering leadership.
Prior experience in a staff or principal-level individual contributor role, ideally spanning multiple teams or platforms.

Nice to Have

Experience building internal AI enablement programs, developer-experience platforms, or lightweight AI governance frameworks.
Background in healthcare, healthtech, or other regulated industries.
Familiarity with vector search, retrieval-augmented generation, model evaluation frameworks, and system observability for large language models.
Experience working with conversational artificial intelligence or virtual assistant products.
