Innovating Traffic Solutions is hiring a remote Solutions Engineer for the V2X team within the Sales department in the United States. This technical sales role bridges customer requirements, product features, and software engineering to drive smart city mobility advancements.

Role Overview

The Solutions Engineer acts as a technical sales consultant and core builder, helping transportation agencies solve complex operational challenges. Professionals in this role assess customer infrastructure, data, and systems to rapidly prototype solutions that demonstrate measurable value. The position spans the entire solution lifecycle, from technical discovery and proof of value to field validation and iterative improvement. Candidates can work remotely across the United States or adopt a hybrid model based near the company headquarters in Kitchener, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver expert pre-sales technical support for complex hardware and software deployments across client environments.
Design and implement rapid prototypes or custom workflow proof of concepts to address unique client challenges.
Lead engaging sales presentations and product demonstrations for technical and executive decision-makers.
Own Proof of Value documentation to secure technical wins and validate return on investment.
Assess client infrastructure and map company solutions directly to agency pain points.
Provide on-site technical training and manage change for customer engineers and architects.
Partner directly with Account Executives to meet individual and team sales quotas.
Analyze daily client operations to uncover new value and accelerate software expansion.
Collaborate internally with Account Executives, Product Management, and Engineering to support growth.

Requirements

Prior experience in solutions engineering, technical consulting, or technical pre-sales.
Deep knowledge of networking products, hardware and software integration, and rapid prototyping.
Domain expertise in Intelligent Transportation Systems, transportation infrastructure, fleet and telematics, or connected vehicle technology.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills to structure ambiguous technical problems and translate data findings into practical solutions.
Self-starter mindset capable of independently learning new programming languages, platforms, and AI tools.
Strong capability in process mapping, workflow redesign, and creating clear ROI business cases.
Exceptional ability to adapt technical messaging for non-technical buyers to influence purchasing decisions.
Willingness to travel at least 5 percent of the time, with the ability to travel freely between the US and Canada.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience with Python for software prototyping, deep debugging, and automation workflows.
Understanding of mathematical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and practical AI tooling.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or an advanced technical degree.
