Role Overview

As a foundational engineer at AfterQuery, the successful candidate will design and scale data infrastructure that directly impacts the creation of advanced foundation models. Operating out of the San Francisco office, this position offers high ownership over end-to-end projects, allowing the engineer to see their contributions take shape instantly alongside a world-class founding team.

Key Responsibilities

Design and scale intricate data capture workflows using Python for desktop applications and Next.js for the web.
Create and refine high-throughput, heavy-load data pipelines.
Work closely with the founding team to shape product direction and release features rapidly.
Establish engineering standards and prepare the technical foundation for future departmental expansion.

Requirements

Strong coding abilities in Python and JavaScript, specifically Next.js, with a proven track record in full-stack web application development.
Practical background in cloud functions and serverless architectures on platforms like AWS or GCP to handle intensive data processing.
Expertise in storage, caching, and search technologies, including Elasticsearch, Redis, and message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, to construct low-latency, scalable pipelines.
Direct experience successfully deploying technical concepts into production environments, with founder experience considered a plus.

Nice to Have

Previous exposure to AI research, human-in-the-loop workflows, or LLM evaluations.
