About this role
Path Robotics builds autonomous robotic systems to address a lack of skilled labor in industrial manufacturing. The engineering group develops and maintains the software infrastructure that powers artificial intelligence and machine learning workflows across the organization. Software engineers in this group bridge the gap between research and production by creating the tooling, pipelines, and deployment systems required to move models from the laboratory to the factory floor. Successful candidates possess a systems-oriented mindset combined with a strong understanding of machine learning development cycles, enabling them to support researchers and build reliable software around complex robotic applications.
What you will do
- Build and maintain software infrastructure supporting robot learning, encompassing model training, experiment tracking, versioning, and deployment systems.
- Develop specialized pipelines and tools designed for collecting, processing, and curating large-scale robotic sensor and telemetry data.
- Support the deployment of artificial intelligence models onto robotic hardware through simulation, integration, runtime monitoring, and field feedback loops.
- Create internal tools that accelerate artificial engineering workflows for dataset exploration, testing, evaluation, and productionisation.
- Collaborate directly with researchers and robotics engineers to translate model requirements into robust and scalable software solutions.
What you need
- Bring three to six years of professional software engineering experience with solid exposure to machine learning infrastructure, MLOps, or artificial intelligence systems.
- Write strong production-grade software using Python, with additional experience in C++, ROS, or robotics software stacks considered an advantage.
- Demonstrate practical familiarity with PyTorch and the underlying software systems required to support machine learning model development.
- Feel comfortable working with data pipelines, simulation environments, containerised workflows, and GPU compute within Linux environments.
- Show the capability to operate across both artificial intelligence and robotics domains to support the complete path from data collection to real-world deployment.
Nice to have
- Experience with C++
- Experience with ROS or robotics software stacks
Benefits
- Daily free lunch
- Flexible PTO
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 6 weeks fully paid parental leave, plus an additional 6–8 weeks for birthing parents
- 401(k) retirement plan through Empower
- Generous employee referral bonuses
Skills and tech stack
Questions candidates ask
What kind of tech stack will I be working with?
You will write production software primarily in Python, with ideal exposure to C++, ROS, or robotics software stacks. The environment also utilizes PyTorch, containerised workflows, GPU compute, and Linux environments.
What does the role actually focus on day to day?
You will serve as the bridge between the AI research team and production by building tooling, pipelines, and deployment systems. This includes supporting robot learning infrastructure, curating robotic sensor data, and helping deploy models onto real robotic systems.
What qualifications are needed to apply?
Applicants need three to six years of software engineering experience with solid exposure to ML infrastructure, MLOps, or AI-enabled systems. You should also be comfortable with data pipelines, simulation environments, and practical AI model development.
