Role Overview

Fieldguide is hiring a Software Engineer for Internal Audit across all levels to join a ground-floor team building long-horizon agents. The role involves full-stack development, shipping features that execute real audit work, and collaborating closely with subject matter experts. Candidates will be calibrated based on scope and demonstrated experience during the interview process, with higher-level expectations available for Senior and Staff tiers.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build agent-driven experiences for SOX control testing, determining where autonomy applies and where auditors stay in the loop.

Own complex, end-to-end workstreams across the full stack.

Improve reliability, repeatability, performance, and observability to ensure long agentic runs produce consistent and defensible conclusions.

Transform agent output into finished audit deliverables and structured workpapers that adapt to firm templates.

Ship code from day one and quickly ramp into full ownership of major product areas.

Collaborate daily with product managers, designers, and SOX subject matter experts.

Shape technical direction, agentic systems, AI tooling, and engineering best practices.

Requirements

Experience shipping LLM-backed product features to production for real users.

Strong full-stack development skills with backend depth to handle agent orchestration.

Ability to operate autonomously and define problems from ambiguous specifications.

Collaborative mindset with experience working across product management, design, and domain experts.

Willingness to develop an Applied AI skillset, including writing evaluations and utilizing LLM observability tools.

Nice to Have

Startup experience as a founder or early engineer.

Track record of taking 0-to-1 projects from concept to user adoption.

Experience working directly with customers.

Background in internal audit, SOX, financial services, accounting, or compliance.

Familiarity with the company technology stack including TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Python, and Temporal.

Experience with document processing, PDF and Excel manipulation, or model output evaluation frameworks.
