Software Development Engineer - AI and Automation
About this role
Blueprint Technologies builds applied artificial intelligence and platform solutions that convert manual operational tasks into automated, agent-driven systems. Software development engineers on this team design multi-step orchestration workflows, build integrations, and mature early prototypes into observable production-ready services using Azure and modern development frameworks. The position exists to help clients eliminate high-friction processes by bridging traditional backend engineering with non-deterministic artificial intelligence. Candidates who thrive here are comfortable navigating ambiguity, balance rapid experimentation with rigorous production standards, and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
What you will do
- Design and develop automated and agent-driven workflows to streamline operational processes and improve overall throughput.
- Transition initial prototypes and proofs of concept into secure, scalable, and observable production-ready services.
- Build backend integrations, RESTful APIs, and tool endpoints using Azure App Services alongside C# and .NET.
- Implement evaluation frameworks, CI regression gates, and drift detection to monitor artificial intelligence system quality and reliability.
- Establish robust observability for latency, costs, tool-call outcomes, and system rollbacks across distributed environments.
- Collaborate with internal teams and end users to gather requirements, analyze workflows, and provide practical technical solutions.
What you need
- Hold a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or possess equivalent professional software development experience.
- Demonstrate at least three years of professional software engineering background with a primary focus on cloud applications.
- Show strong proficiency in backend development using .NET, C#, Python, and SQL.
- Bring hands-on experience building solutions with large language models, artificial intelligence services, and prompt engineering.
- Have experience taking an artificial intelligence feature, agent, or automation successfully into production.
- Familiarity with Azure services such as App Services, Azure SQL, Logic Apps, and Azure AI Search.
Nice to have
- Prior experience with the client organization and internal development practices.
- Experience with agent frameworks like Microsoft Agent Framework, Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, or Model Context Protocol.
- Background in developing large language model evaluation harnesses and automated quality gates.
- Front-end development experience utilizing React.
- Familiarity with responsible artificial intelligence practices and enterprise compliance reviews.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Flexible Spending Account
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Competitive paid time off
- Parental leave
- Professional growth and development opportunities
