About this role

Building complex structural and multi-physics models from geometry clean-up to simulation and post-processing forms the core of daily tasks for this engineer at PhysicsX. Collaborating closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers, the person in this seat will generate high-quality simulation datasets by merging advanced computer-aided engineering with data science practices. Team members build a novel simulation software stack designed to bring deep physics artificial intelligence enablement to industrial engineering across sectors like aerospace, automotive, and energy.

Operating out of the New York office on a hybrid schedule, the incoming engineer will take charge of workflows spanning model builds, solver setups, run management, and results interpretation. Ideal candidates bring solid foundations in structural dynamics alongside practical proficiency in finite element analysis and multi-body simulation solvers. Individuals who enjoy working directly with customers on-site while independently tackling demanding engineering hurdles will thrive in this environment.

What you will do

  • Own the technical delivery of building complex structural and multi-physics models from geometry clean-up and meshing to simulation and post-processing.
  • Partner directly with customers to address complex engineering challenges through advanced finite element analysis and artificial intelligence solutions.
  • Work at the intersection of computer-aided engineering and data science to generate simulation datasets for training machine and deep learning models.
  • Leverage data sampling techniques to capture design space, reduce computational costs, and enhance model accuracy.
  • Accelerate high-fidelity modeling by utilizing the cloud platform and on-premise high-performance computing resources.
  • Document work through clear technical reports and process notes to contribute to the shared knowledge base.
  • Travel domestically and globally up to two to three weeks per quarter to work side-by-side with customers on-site.

What you need

  • Possess two or more years of industry experience post master's or PhD delivering finite element analysis, multi-body simulation, or structural dynamics analysis in a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrate hands-on expertise in structural dynamics and vibration with the ability to apply fundamental knowledge to real-world phenomena.
  • Show high proficiency in at least one finite element analysis solver such as Nastran, Abaqus, or ANSYS.
  • Maintain proficiency in at least one multi-body simulation solver like Adams, SIMPACK, Virtual Dynamics, or Excite M.
  • Bring a working knowledge of surrounding pre and post tool chains including SimLab, HyperMesh, OptiStruct, or Hypergraph.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Python for pipeline scripting and automation.
  • Be comfortable owning workflows end to end from model build to results interpretation and making independent engineering judgment calls.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in parametric CAD modeling using NX or CATIA
  • Exposure to open source tools such as Calculix or OpenRadioss

Benefits

  • Equity options
  • Private medical insurance
  • Wellhub Subscription
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Personal development support
