Senior Technical Product Manager, AI
About this role
Driving the entire product pipeline from early concepts to fully supported production services, the Senior Technical Product Manager at 2K shapes the shared infrastructure that allows gaming and publishing teams to leverage artificial intelligence safely and at scale. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, the role centers on defining investment strategies, evaluating build-versus-buy decisions, and establishing robust governance frameworks in partnership with security and legal teams. Success in this position is measured through product adoption, system reliability, inference cost optimization, and measurable efficiency gains across the organization.
Operating within a major entertainment company known for iconic franchises like NBA 2K and BioShock, the person stepping into this position owns critical backend AI services that multiple studios depend on. Candidates who thrive here are technically fluent, capable of navigating complex tradeoffs in latency and cost with data scientists, and comfortable translating deep technical requirements into clear roadmaps for executive leadership.
What you will do
- Transform business needs, prototypes, and initial concepts into shared-service products and backend infrastructure.
- Manage intake, prioritization, and acceptance criteria while defining success metrics and the path to production before engineering commitment.
- Collaborate with internal teams to determine whether centralizing a build is more effective than localized builds or licensed tools.
- Publish comprehensive roadmaps and report progress, costs, and risks directly to senior leadership.
- Track key performance indicators including adoption rates, task success rates, latency, inference costs, and quality regression.
- Develop internal AI governance frameworks in coordination with security, data, and trust and safety teams to ensure auditable model usage and compliance.
What you need
- Demonstrated professional track record in product management with direct experience launching AI or machine learning products into production.
- Proven ownership of a production AI system with ongoing accountability for system availability, operational costs, and output quality.
- Practical familiarity with modern AI application patterns such as retrieval, evaluation, fine-tuning, agentic workflows, and safety guardrails.
- Experience managing platform or infrastructure products that serve broad internal customer bases with competing priorities.
- Strong ability to treat governance, risk, and compliance as core product design surfaces rather than administrative hurdles.
- Exceptional communication skills to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to both engineering teams and non-technical executives.
Nice to have
- Experience in the gaming industry with knowledge of AAA development workflows, live service operations, or publishing
- Active personal experience building with AI tools, prototypes, evaluations, and working demos
- Hands-on background with AI gateways, model routing layers, or LLM operations tooling
- Experience managing inference spend, cost attribution, usage governance, and unit economics for AI workloads
- Product experience operating in regulated or audit-heavy environments that directly shaped system architecture
