Role Overview

The Platform team at Clera requires a software engineer to develop backend systems, data pipelines, and integrations supporting AI-powered agents and manufacturing workflows. The role centers on enabling the reliable movement of goods through complex supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

Design and scale backend services utilizing Next.js API routes, background jobs, and serverless functions for high-throughput order processing.
Build and productionize large language model based agents, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and retrieval-augmented generation patterns for quote analysis and supplier recommendations.
Design PostgreSQL database schemas, migrations, and complex queries covering materials, quotes, orders, and supplier relationships.
Construct event-driven pipelines for order state management, notifications, and system synchronization.
Implement caching, rate limiting, and reliability patterns for external API integrations.
Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability practices while owning backend incident response.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of production experience creating backend services, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure.
Recent hands-on involvement with web and artificial intelligence product development, specifically Next.js, TypeScript, and agentic frameworks.
Experience constructing natural language processing or machine learning pipelines to extract data from unstructured documents using optical character recognition.
Strong expertise in transactional guarantees, ACID semantics, exactly-once processing, and idempotent application programming interfaces.
Familiarity with scaling PostgreSQL or alternative relational databases alongside event-driven systems and reliable data pipelines.
Experience integrating enterprise resource planning systems and third-party interfaces, including legacy or poorly documented options.
Background in manufacturing supply chain, procurement, or logistics, backed by strong computer science fundamentals.
