Role Overview

The Senior / Staff ML Ops Engineer will enhance training systems, developer interfaces, and data pipelines to support autonomous vehicle development. The position centers on building reliable infrastructure that accelerates machine learning iteration and optimizes GPU cluster utilization.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and scale training infrastructure on Kubernetes, managing GPU scheduling, autoscaling, and multi-node distributed jobs.
Design developer-facing interfaces such as command-line tools, software development kits, and job templates.
Optimize iteration speed by reducing training start times and troubleshooting cluster performance bottlenecks.
Strengthen the data and artifact layer to ensure high-throughput loading of large multimodal sensor data for GPUs.
Establish continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines for models alongside standard software and simulation pipelines.
Implement observability across the machine learning stack to track utilization, throughput, failures, and experiment costs.

Requirements

Five or more years of software or infrastructure engineering experience operating production systems or platforms for other engineers.
Practical expertise with Kubernetes including GPU scheduling, autoscaling, Helm, and cluster debugging.
Proficiency in Python with experience creating software interfaces and command-line tools.
Hands-on familiarity with AWS services covering object storage, identity and access management, GPU compute, networking, and infrastructure as code.
Experience with distributed training frameworks in PyTorch, experiment tracking, and model registries.

Nice to Have

Background in internal developer platforms or research platforms with proven user adoption growth.
Experience with large-scale distributed GPU training across hundreds or thousands of accelerators.
Familiarity with high-throughput loading of camera or LiDAR data and data formats like Parquet or WebDataset.
Knowledge of workflow scheduling systems such as Argo Workflows, Ray, Flyte, Kubeflow, or Slurm.
Experience with build systems like Bazel, simulation infrastructure, or robotics environments.
