Role Overview

Netlify seeks a Senior Staff Data Scientist to join the data team and support the product-led growth journey across user activation, engagement, conversion, monetization, and retention. Operating in a fully distributed environment, this individual collaborates closely with product, engineering, and growth leaders. The position involves driving experimentation, building scalable analytical systems, and leveraging artificial intelligence to accelerate investigations and automate recurring workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Own analytical assessments of product-led growth performance to identify opportunities independently before requests are made
Partner with leadership to translate behavioral insights into product bets, defining study design, metrics, and guardrails
Lead comprehensive experimentation cycles from initial hypothesis formation to final analysis and strategic recommendations
Build scalable analytical systems, including semantic models, trusted metrics, proactive monitoring frameworks, and AI-powered agents
Utilize artificial intelligence tools to accelerate investigations and test hypotheses while maintaining rigorous analytical judgment
Identify and resolve gaps in measurement, event instrumentation, and metric definitions alongside product engineering teams
Serve as a trusted analytical advisor to product-led growth leadership, influencing roadmap priorities and investment decisions

Requirements

Eight or more years of professional experience in product analytics, growth analytics, or data science
Demonstrated history of high ownership and measurable impact on product-led growth or consumer product outcomes
Comprehensive knowledge of product and growth dynamics spanning activation, engagement, conversion, monetization, and retention
Advanced experimentation expertise in study design, statistical reasoning, and causal inference
Experience designing and constructing analytical systems such as metrics layers and monitoring frameworks
Active use of artificial intelligence tools to streamline data investigation and automate repetitive analytical tasks
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and product direction using clear analytical reasoning and judgment
Ability to operate with significant autonomy in ambiguous environments within a remote and asynchronous setting
Strong written and verbal communication skills for distributed team collaboration
