Senior Software Developer, Applied AI
About this role
Clariti Cloud Inc. needs to scale its internal Agentic SDLC framework and AI harness so that engineering pods and non-technical staff can build and deploy reliable software for local governments. Operating within the Applied AI pod, the senior software developer will solve the challenge of making agent output trustworthy enough for government contexts, where code must adhere to strict permissioning and audit standards.
The person in this role will act as a DevOps specialist for AI, focusing on infrastructure rather than direct product features. Responsibilities include building connector layers with MCP servers, establishing automated evaluation harnesses, instrumenting token spend and latency telemetry, and implementing robust guardrails. Success in this position requires a strong platform temperament, deep experience with LLM-powered systems, and comfort operating autonomously within a small team.
What you will do
- Build and evolve the Agentic SDLC framework by designing agent workflows, orchestration templates, and reusable components.
- Design, implement, and operate Model Context Protocol servers and integrations into core systems with least-privilege permissions.
- Build and maintain automated evaluation harnesses that score agent output as regression suites and CI quality gates.
- Instrument token spend, latency, eval pass rates, and usage to provide unit economics per workflow.
- Implement permissioning, audit trails, versioning, and output controls that meet government software standards.
- Build skill and template libraries, onboarding flows, and self-serve tooling to enable non-technical employees.
What you need
- Bring six or more years of experience as a software engineer shipping production systems.
- Demonstrate at least one to two years of hands-on experience building LLM-powered or agentic systems that real users depend on.
- Possess strong general engineering fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
- Show hands-on depth in the current agentic stack including agent frameworks, coding agents, tool protocols, and structured outputs.
- Display a platform temperament with a focus on other teams' throughput and maintainable documentation.
- Operate effectively with a small blast radius and high autonomy in a pod environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in regulated or public-sector software where auditability and defensibility of outputs matter.
- Prior DevOps, platform engineering, or internal developer platform ownership.
- Experience instrumenting and optimizing LLM cost and quality at scale including model routing, caching, prompt compression, and fine-tuning trade-offs.

The base salary range for this role is expected to be between $103,000 and $160,000 based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications while considering internal pay equity.
