Senior Research Scientist, Health Economic Modelling
About this role
Precision Medicine Group needs to bridge the gap between complex clinical data and transparent, decision-ready health economic evaluations for pharma and biotech clients. To solve this, the Evidence Synthesis and Decision Modelling team is hiring a Senior Research Scientist who can independently build and execute simulation-based cost-effectiveness models from scratch.
In this role, the incoming specialist will divide time between programming sophisticated simulation models in R and Excel/VBA, interpreting clinical study results, and drafting technical reports for diverse stakeholders. Collaboration is central to the position, as the individual will work alongside specialized health economists and statisticians on global methodology projects. The ideal candidate combines a strong background in health economics with advanced technical proficiency in R, git, and VBA, bringing a self-starting attitude to a growing global organization.
What you will do
- Collaborate with a specialized team of health economists, statisticians, and researchers on global, methodologically innovative projects for pharma and biotech clients.
- Implement and program simulation-based cost-effectiveness models independently in R and Excel/VBA from scratch.
- Evaluate studies to identify key result drivers, assess data or methodological gaps, and suggest practical solutions.
- Contribute to the development of client-ready study deliverables, including model conceptualization, analysis plans, interpretations, and sensitivity analyses.
- Prepare written documentation and present project progress and results clearly to internal and external technical and non-technical audiences.
- Manage project components effectively to ensure timely delivery while working independently and as part of a diverse team.
What you need
- Hold a Master's degree in health economics, statistics, or a related discipline.
- Bring a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience, ideally within a consulting environment serving pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare clients.
- Demonstrate proven R programming skills with direct experience in programming cost-effectiveness simulation models.
- Possess an understanding of and experience applying statistical methods in health economics, such as parametric survival regression model extrapolation, network meta-analyses, and probabilistic sensitivity analyses.
- Exhibit strong multi-tasking, time management, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Python, C++, or other programming languages
- Experience with hesim, shiny, or Rcpp R packages
- Experience with Bayesian statistics and advanced modelling techniques
- Knowledge and experience conducting indirect treatment comparisons such as network meta-analysis, matching-adjusted indirect comparison, and simulated treatment comparison
