Role Overview

The Senior ML Research Scientist position at adjoe in Berlin involves building foundational machine learning representations and advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. The team operates as a deep-tech layer delivering high-dimensional user embeddings, content understanding, and sequential recommendation frameworks using behavioral and transactional data from hundreds of millions of users.

Key Responsibilities

Build foundational machine learning representations and advanced artificial intelligence capabilities supporting Playtime and adjoe Ads.
Develop critical systems including high-dimensional user embeddings, general content understanding, and sequential recommendation frameworks.
Manage the full lifecycle of artificial intelligence capabilities from academic paper translation and offline prototyping to deployment in real-time production environments.
Architect multi-stage recommendation pipelines, Generative Retrieval, Deep Ranking, and Re-ranking.
Research and develop information-rich user and ad embeddings through unsupervised and generative approaches.
Lead architectural discussions, mentor junior scientists, and guide research direction.

Requirements

PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Physics, or an MSc with extensive industry research and publications in top-tier venues such as SIGIR, KDD, NeurIPS, or ICLR.
Minimum of four years of experience building large-scale recommender systems in high-throughput environments including AdTech, e-commerce, or social domains.
Practical experience translating research into robust, production-ready code optimized for low latency.
Hands-on expertise in PyTorch, large-scale model optimization, high-concurrency optimization, model quantization, and distillation.
