Role Overview

Clera seeks a Senior Member of Technical Staff for its engineering group in San Francisco. The professional will construct AI-supported software products utilized by investigators for analyzing evidence in high-stakes public safety and law enforcement contexts. Work takes place in a hybrid setup.

Key Responsibilities

Construct secure and fault-tolerant distributed infrastructure supporting AI evidence search operations.
Launch large language models, vision models, and additional machine learning applications into production environments.
Create retrieval-augmented generation frameworks and semantic search tools for unstructured evidence.
Plan structured data architectures incorporating query planning and semantic reasoning components.
Develop or interact with agentic frameworks capable of reasoning, planning, and executing actions across investigative records.
Assess new artificial intelligence models and infrastructure methods, taking projects from initial concepts to final deployment.

Requirements

Minimum of six years of backend engineering practice creating distributed architectures, featuring operational deployment of large language models, vision models, or alternative machine learning models.
Fluency in various programming languages such as Python, alongside familiarity with JavaScript and React.
Background in developing secure and dependable systems across different infrastructure providers.
Practical experience using retrieval-augmented generation or comparable pipelines for unstructured data, combined with structured data systems involving query planning, semantic modeling, or reasoning.
Authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to Have

Background working in both established technology companies and early-stage startup environments.
Track record of consistent contributions within previous positions.
