Role Overview

Cognite - AI for Industry is hiring a Senior Field Engineer (Pre-Sales/Forward Deployed) to drive industrial digitalization and technical customer engagements. The professional in this position acts as the technical lead for complex client interactions, translating business strategy into operational AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with Account Executives to prioritize strategic accounts and direct technical execution for complex client engagements.
Build functional prototypes using Cognite Atlas AI and Cognite Data Fusion to transition clients from strategy to operational deployment.
Design and implement novel industrial agents utilizing the Atlas AI workbench to automate complex workflows.
Facilitate use case workshops, deliver executive-level demonstrations, and present reference architectures.
Channel field feedback and deployment insights back to the internal Product organization to refine Industrial DataOps practices.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in pre-sales engineering or forward-deployed engineering roles within cloud platforms, enterprise SaaS, or industrial software.
Academic background in disciplines such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Machine Learning.
Proficiency in Python alongside a solid understanding of generative AI concepts including RAG, embeddings, and prompt chaining.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Availability to travel domestically up to 50 percent of the time for client-facing activities.

Nice to Have

Background or practical experience within industrial sectors like Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, or Control System Engineering.
Prior experience in customer-facing or sales functions.
Familiarity with real-world, complex data challenges in industries such as Energy, Oil and Gas, Chemicals, Life Sciences, or Discrete manufacturing.
Understanding of autonomous operations and industrial data integration.
