Role Overview

Wealthsimple is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for the Growth Data team on a remote basis within Canada. The position acts as a domain expert for a key marketing pillar, influencing millions of dollars in marketing spend through optimization algorithms, attribution modeling, and experimentation.

Key Responsibilities

Build data products and algorithms that optimize marketing performance, including budget allocation, targeting strategies, and campaign optimization across multiple channels.
Design and implement measurement strategies for marketing initiatives, such as attribution modeling, incrementality analysis, and multi-touch attribution.
Drive marketing strategy through data insights, A/B testing, and causal inference methodologies to maximize ROI on marketing spend.
Develop and maintain analytics pipelines and data infrastructure in collaboration with data engineers and other data scientists.
Conduct exploratory analysis to identify growth opportunities, understand customer behaviour, and optimize marketing tactics.
Provide business-as-usual analytics support including reporting, dashboards, and ad-hoc analysis for marketing stakeholders.
Leverage AI tooling to handle operational tasks efficiently and focus on high-impact strategic problems.
Partner with ad platforms like Google and Meta and internal engineering teams to ensure robust tracking, data integration, and measurement capabilities.

Requirements

Understanding of digital marketing mechanics including attribution, ad platforms, tracking, and conversion optimization.
Experience working with lifecycle data and understanding various ways of reaching out to new and existing customers.
Strong technical skills in Python and SQL with experience building production-quality code.
Proven track record in algorithm development, optimization problems, or building data-driven decision systems.
Strong foundation in causal inference, A/B testing, and experimental design.
Excellent communication skills to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ownership as the data directly responsible individual on complex projects end to end.

Experience working at larger-scale tech companies that develop internal analytics and optimization systems.
