Role Overview

The Senior Data Scientist joins the data team at Clutch Technologies Inc. in Toronto to help shape the company's financial services offering. This full-time hybrid position focuses on bringing a financing-first lens to the buyer journey, helping customers understand affordability earlier, and collaborating with financial services, product, marketing, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Shape the roadmap and delivery of financial services analytics as an early data scientist on the initiative.

Analyze buyer journey and financing funnel data to locate areas for improvement.

Build models for a financing-first shopping experience that surface affordable vehicles and display monthly payments.

Predict financing intent and readiness from on-site user behavior.

Own the pre-qualification process end-to-end to provide customers with early clarity.

Model how trade-in values, down payments, and term choices affect customer decisions.

Design and analyze experiments testing financing presentations across the site and purchase flow.

Quantify how financing impacts business metrics such as conversion, order value, and customer lifetime value.

Partner with data engineering and external partners to establish data foundations for scaling.

Collaborate with external financial services partners to refine journeys, conversion, and risk performance.

Requirements

Five or more years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a highly analytical role with a track record of driving business decisions.

Experience building decision models or frameworks that guide customers, influence displays, or optimize funnels.

Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.

Solid statistical fundamentals, experimentation experience, and disciplined validation methods.

Customer-focused mindset regarding end-user experience.

Communication skills to explain complex trade-offs to business leaders.

Nice to Have

Experience in fintech, consumer finance, or auto finance.

Experience with personalization, e-commerce funnels, or customer journey analytics.

Experience deploying models into production.

Background helping build an early-stage product or business line.
