Role Overview

Karat is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based data pipelines that support the company’s interview and performance analytics. The position is fully remote but limited to candidates residing in Bengaluru and requires overlap with U.S. business hours.

Key Responsibilities

Create, test, deploy, and operate robust data pipelines that ingest data from product, operational, and third-party sources.

Own the architecture of data pipelines, handling orchestration, monitoring, reliability, performance, and data quality.

Develop transformations and data models that turn raw data into trusted, actionable information.

Enhance data quality through validation, observability, monitoring, and clear dataset ownership.

Manage and improve the existing data stack, including PostgreSQL, Redshift, Airflow, and Terraform.

Communicate data concepts clearly and partner with technical and non-technical teams to raise data literacy.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, machine learning, or a related technical field.

Proven track record building and operating production-grade data pipelines.

Strong expertise with relational and columnar databases, advanced SQL, and dimensional modeling (facts and dimensions).

Proficiency in Python, Docker, and workflow-orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.

Hands-on experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform.

Solid software-engineering practices including version control, code review, testing, observability, and documentation.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and ability to work with globally distributed teams.
