Ondo Finance is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their software engineering team remotely across the United States. This remote role is ideal for a seasoned technical professional looking to build core analytical infrastructure for institutional-grade financial services.

Role Overview

Ondo Finance is hiring its first Data Engineer to create the foundational data platform that supports Ondo Global Markets and Ondo Perps. This hands-on infrastructure position involves consolidating fragmented information sources, establishing a centralized warehouse in BigQuery, and supplying reliable data to the wider team. The individual in this role will operate with high autonomy and close collaboration alongside backend engineering, data science, risk, and product units to build scalable analytical pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the migration of existing data workflows and analytics into BigQuery to establish a centralized reporting layer.

Read, modify, and extend the Go services running Ondo Perps in order to ingest supplementary data streams and changefeeds into the warehouse.

Create, maintain, and test repeatable ETL and ELT pipelines that the data science group can reuse.

Unify fragmented sources such as internal databases, on-chain providers, market data vendors, and product analytics into clean datasets.

Set clear standards regarding data ingestion, transformation, testing, orchestration, documentation, and lineage.

Build core dashboards and foundational metrics while taking full ownership of warehouse observability, monitoring, cost management, and access controls.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional data engineering experience focused on operating production data pipelines and warehouses.

Extensive hands-on experience utilizing cloud data warehouses, with a strong preference for BigQuery, alongside performance tuning and cost optimization.

Advanced SQL and data modeling proficiency, backed by familiarity with modern transformation and orchestration tools.

Demonstrated background in designing batch and streaming data ingestion methods from operational databases directly into a warehouse.

Prior experience constructing data infrastructure within fintech, trading, or alternative high-integrity financial environments where correctness is essential.

High standards centered on data quality, testing methodologies, reliability, and clear technical documentation.

Nice to Have

Ability to read and write Go code or general software engineering expertise to quickly learn unfamiliar production codebases.

Exposure to crypto-native or on-chain data along with specific vendors such as Dune, Allium, or Databento.

Knowledge of analytical and operational stores like Snowflake, CockroachDB, or QuestDB.

Background in facilitating self-serve analytics or quantitative trading microstructure information.

Prior involvement with risk management or quantitative analytics data.
