Role Overview

Clera seeks a Senior Applied AI Engineer to work on-site in San Francisco. The professional in this position will take ownership of the agent infrastructure supporting AI system reliability, context retention, and human-in-the-loop interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain infrastructure designed for reliable agent execution across long-running and multi-step tasks.
Design memory and retrieval systems capable of handling messy operational data while preserving context over time.
Develop evaluation harnesses to assist teams in making deployment decisions for large language model systems.
Measure, test, debug, and improve agent systems through all phases of development and production.
Collaborate with customers and teammates to iterate on production agents, orchestration, and reliability.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience building and shipping LLM agents running unattended in production for real users.
Strong proficiency in Python and experience creating production systems and agent infrastructure.
Experience developing evaluation harnesses used to guide production deployment choices.
Practical background in agent memory, context retrieval for operational data, and orchestration or workflow systems.
Experience implementing failure recovery, retries, and other production reliability patterns for agents.
Experience building agent tools, frameworks, or libraries, or a technical project brought from conception to production.
