Role Overview

Mintlify seeks a Senior Applied AI Engineer to join the team in San Francisco. The professional in this position will take ownership of complex AI products, transitioning them from early experimentation into production environments while influencing product direction across the stack.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and ship customer-facing AI experiences, covering agent orchestration, tool use, backend systems, and user interfaces.
Develop agent loops capable of reasoning over complex context, invoking tools, recovering from failures, and executing long-running tasks.
Establish evaluation methods and feedback loops, analyze system failures, and systematically improve prompts, context, models, tools, and product flows.
Scale prototypes into production products by making decisions regarding architecture, latency, cost, observability, and user experience.
Collaborate directly with customers to gather insights that shape product development.
Mentor other engineers, share technical knowledge, and support team growth.

Requirements

At least 4 years of professional software development experience.
Deep experience building production systems using language models, including agent loops, tool use, retrieval, prompting, and structured outputs.
Capability to own production software across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
Experience leading complex projects from the experimentation phase through to production.
