About this role
Samsara needs to protect its connected operations platform from sophisticated AI adversaries across software and hardware layers. The application security team is bringing on a specialist to use frontier models for red-teaming cloud environments and validating firmware vulnerabilities. Operating as the primary AI-focused security technologist, the person in this role will shape the organization's defensive and offensive security strategies.
What you will do
- Conduct security assessments of software, code, and firmware to evaluate resilience against adversarial attacks and implement fixes.
- Translate general AI security findings into specific remediations for the application security layer, adapting software techniques for hardware.
- Build and test novel AI-enabled security workflows and drive adoption across the broader security organization.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, hardware, and leadership during threat modeling sessions as the resident AI security expert.
- Define and drive medium- and long-term strategies for adopting AI safely within security operations.
- Use frontier AI and LLM tools hands-on for both offensive red-teaming and defensive tooling.
What you need
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in application security, vulnerability management, threat modeling, offensive security, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience applying AI and LLM tools to real security workflows, such as building with APIs, agents, or automation.
- Experience conducting technical security assessments across both software and hardware or firmware environments.
- Experience creating secure code solutions with engineers using languages like GoLang.
- Experience developing AI and agentic solutions using GitHub and developing within AWS cloud environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-specific attack techniques including prompt injection, jailbreaks, and model or agent abuse.
- Experience building or validating security controls for agentic AI, RAG systems, or LLM-integrated platforms.
- Track record of driving organization-wide security strategy or presenting technical findings to executive stakeholders.
- Relevant industry certifications such as OSCP, GIAC, CISSP, or AWS certifications.

What is the salary range for this role?
The range of annual base salary for full-time employees is $157,675 to $238,500 USD. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors including city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
