Senior AI Product Builder, Inventory Experience
About this role
When inaccurate catalog data flows upstream, forecasting, placement, allocation, and routing break downstream, making the Product and Inventory Experience domain one of the most critical surfaces at ShipBob. The team solves this challenge by eliminating the traditional handoff between product managers and engineers, using AI development tools to let builders own discovery, specs, prototypes, and production pull requests directly. As a Senior AI Product Builder, you will own the entire lifecycle for the product catalog, inventory records, and receiving flows that merchants rely on every day. You will operate inside an AI-native pod, leveraging tools like Claude Code and Driver.ai to read data models, evaluate scaffolding, and ship production-ready code with minimal rework. This position suits a self-driven builder who measures success by shipped outcomes and fast iterations rather than traditional documents or slide decks.
What you will do
- Manage the complete product loop from discovery and precise spec writing to prototyping, production PR creation, and outcome measurement.
- Oversee the product catalog and inventory data surface covering SKUs, variants, bundles, lots, and channel synchronization.
- Conduct independent customer discovery by synthesizing research across tickets, interviews, and behavioral data using AI tools.
- Define clear success metrics and kill thresholds at the specification stage without requiring management coaching.
- Participate in architecture reviews as the primary product judgment seat to make build-versus-buy-versus-defer decisions.
- Evaluate whether proposed solutions align with the company architecture without needing engineering translation.
What you need
- Bring five or more years of product management, product engineering, or equivalent professional experience with hands-on AI tool usage.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to write actionable specs, state machines, business rules, data contracts, and edge cases for AI tools.
- Possess the technical fluency to read data models, evaluate API contracts, and spot deviations in AI-generated code.
- Show a track record of shipping working prototypes or production code rather than relying solely on Figma mockups or slide decks.
- Maintain strong outcome ownership by establishing and tracking success metrics and kill thresholds after launch.
- Bring prior work experience within supply chain, fulfillment, logistics, transportation, or e-commerce technology sectors.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with the AI development toolchain such as Claude Code, Driver.ai, Cursor, Replit, V0, or Figma AI.
- Working knowledge of TypeScript, React, or Python to debug AI-generated code and understand engineering reviews.
- Experience with product information management, catalog or inventory systems, and multichannel commerce integrations like Shopify or Amazon.
- Prior experience transitioning a product team from a traditional software development lifecycle to an AI-native operating model.
Benefits
- Medical, Dental, Vision & Basic Life Insurance
- Paid Maternity/Parental Leave Program
- Paid Holidays & Flexible Time Off Program
- Paid Sick Leave
- Wellness Days (1 day/quarter)
- 401K Match

AI Builders close the gap between specification and engineering by owning discovery, specs, prototypes, and production PRs themselves. You use the AI development toolchain to understand codebase architecture and generate working code against the actual repo.
What does the first 90 days look like for a Senior AI Product Builder?
The first 30 days involve mapping the domain, examining the codebase, and demoing a throwaway prototype back to the pod. Days 30 to 60 focus on shipping a small initial PR to prove the loop, and days 60 to 90 require defining a metric for a real bet and making a rollout-or-kill call.
