About this role
Bridging the gap between manual human resources operations and intelligent automation, the Senior AI Enablement Engineer, People will solve the challenge of scaling internal People workflows through robust artificial intelligence systems. Operating as a technical founder embedded within the People department at Justworks, this practitioner will architect the core automation layer, build agentic workflows, and design reliable retrieval-augmented generation pipelines.
Day-to-day efforts center on shipping production-grade internal tools, evaluating system accuracy, and partnering closely with data governance teams to handle sensitive workforce information responsibly. The ideal candidate brings extensive software engineering experience paired with a demonstrated track record of deploying LLM-powered applications that real users depend on. Someone who thrives in ambiguous greenfield environments, thinks in complex systems, and possesses the initiative to drive projects from a whiteboard straight to production will excel in this position.
What you will do
- Drive the technical execution of the People team's AI transformation roadmap by architecting and maintaining intelligent operational workflows.
- Partner with data analysts and governance teams to integrate structured Snowflake data with unstructured text for context-aware internal tools.
- Design evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, latency, hallucination rates, and user satisfaction across deployed machine learning solutions.
- Implement strict data privacy measures, role-based access controls, and audit trails for sensitive employee information.
- Translate ambiguous operational pain points from non-technical stakeholders into well-scoped and sequenced technical engineering work.
- Collaborate with core engineering teams to align on infrastructure, security posture, and long-term maintainability standards.
What you need
- Six or more years of professional, hands-on software engineering experience.
- Two or more years of hands-on experience building with large language models and artificial intelligence tooling in production environments.
- Familiarity with large language model observability tools such as LangSmith or Datadog LLM monitoring.
- Systems-level understanding of data retrieval, vector embeddings, and combining structured data sources like Snowflake with unstructured text.
- Strong working knowledge of data privacy standards, role-based permissions, and access controls for confidential datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in ambiguous, greenfield environments without heavy oversight.
