Neura Robotics GmbH is hiring a Robotic Foundation Model Engineer Intern in Metzingen / Riederich to advance cognitive robotics applications using Physical AI and the NeuraGym platform. This position suits individuals with a relevant Master's degree and hands-on machine learning experience who want to build production-ready robotic intelligence.

Role Overview

This internship focuses on advancing cognitive robotics applications through Physical AI and the NeuraGym platform. The position involves training foundation models, working with real robot hardware, and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Execute the full NeuraGym pipeline including teleoperation, data annotation, training, simulation, deployment, and validation for real-world robotics.
Define data strategies, manage the post-training loop involving hyperparameter iteration, data mixture, LoRA, and conduct model evaluations.
Design, build, and optimize intelligent robotic systems by working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Support NeuraGym users by reviewing training scripts, spotting data quality issues, troubleshooting model behavior, and resolving blockers.
Bridge Cloud and AI teams to maintain technical alignment and efficient cross-domain problem-solving.
Convert field experience and customer insights into actionable feedback for product and core AI roadmaps.

Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Practical machine learning experience in robotics, specifically in vision-based manipulation, reinforcement or imitation learning, or multimodal models.
Experience fine-tuning pretrained models through PEFT, LoRA, full fine-tunes, dataset curation, distillation, and evaluation.
Proficiency in Python, with practical experience using PyTorch or TensorFlow, and working directly with real robot hardware and middleware.
Good command of both English and German at a B2 to C1 level.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with the open VLA and policy-learning ecosystem including π0, π0.5, OpenVLA, LeRobot, and diffusion policies.
C++ programming skills.
Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with robotic simulation tools such as IsaacSim and MuJoCo.
