Role Overview

Neura Robotics GmbH seeks a Reinforcement Learning Expert - Humanoid (Mensch) to join the team in Zurich. The professional in this role will lead algorithm development and implementation to enhance the autonomy, adaptability, and interaction capabilities of humanoid robots. Collaboration with internal engineering teams is central to bridging simulation and real-world hardware deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Enhance the learning pipeline for robust locomotion and loco-manipulation on the 4NE1 Humanoid, covering policy training through to real hardware deployment.
Evaluate and adapt state-of-the-art methods like behavior foundation models, general motion tracking, and teleoperation for internal teams and clients.
Drive sim-to-real transfer via domain randomization, actuator modeling, and physics tuning to minimize performance loss on physical robots.
Integrate reinforcement learning and behavior cloning so robots learn from both simulation and real interactions.
Collaborate closely with controls, hardware, and perception teams to ensure seamless integration of algorithms with hardware and sensors.
Conduct experiments and simulations to evaluate and validate algorithm performance across various scenarios.

Requirements

Master or PhD degree in robotics, computer science, or a related field.
Strong programming skills in Python and C++, alongside practical experience with robotics frameworks like ROS 2 and real hardware.
Experience in developing and deploying reinforcement learning and behavior cloning algorithms for robotic systems, backed by a solid understanding of humanoid robot dynamics, control engineering, and sensor integration.
Practical experience with Isaac Lab, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, and PyTorch.
Strong analytical skills with a track record of developing innovative robotics solutions, ideally supported by conference or journal publications.
Strong communication skills.
Very good proficiency in English, with good German language skills as an ideal addition.
