Product Quality Engineer, Automotive Sensors
About this role
Evaluating sensor performance, driving root-cause investigations, and ensuring robust mass production standards for autonomous vehicle hardware occupy the core of this engineering position. The Hardware Engineering team creates the cameras, radars, and lidars that serve as the sensory perception system for the autonomous driving platform, operating at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, and optical innovation.
Working on this team involves championing product quality from concept through high-volume manufacturing by implementing rigorous validation protocols and statistical process controls. The group values analytical thinkers who can navigate complex supply chain dynamics, collaborate effectively with external manufacturing partners, and uphold strict automotive safety standards. Successful candidates typically bring extensive industry experience in hardware development and a deep commitment to advancing autonomous mobility.
What you will do
- Serve as the quality champion for the sensor development team by driving end-to-end quality plans through APQP and PPAP methodologies.
- Verify adherence to engineering specifications and oversee the product design lifecycle with DFMEA, PFMEA, and design reviews.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering groups to validate sensor calibration, active alignment, and End-of-Line functional test coverage.
- Conduct hands-on initial failure analysis and hardware debugging for camera and radar modules during vehicle integration.
- Lead cross-functional 8D root-cause investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions to resolution.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain partners to execute quality plans, process audits, and product inspections.
- Monitor manufacturing yields, defect rates, and reliability metrics using statistical tools for continuous improvement.
What you need
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
