Key Responsibilities

Own the technical vision and roadmap for authentication and authorization platforms, including API gateways and identity services.
Architect and build scalable, highly available auth services and components using Golang, AWS, and relational databases.
Design and execute phased, zero-downtime migrations of auth traffic with clear safety and rollback mechanisms.
Establish platform-wide identity standards including OAuth2/OIDC flows, token strategies, service-to-service mTLS, and fine-grained authorization models.
Partner with Security and Compliance to meet rigorous fintech regulatory requirements and champion secure-by-default coding patterns.
Set engineering best practices for observability, CI/CD, and security across teams.
Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and postmortems for auth-critical paths.
Mentor fellow engineers and collaborate cross-functional to translate business goals into technical execution.

Requirements

12+ years of professional software engineering experience with extensive backend specialization.
Successfully deployed significant changes to a production application within the past 30 days.
Deep, hands-on expertise in authentication and authorization frameworks like OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, session auth, RBAC, and ABAC.
Experience designing, building, or operating API gateways or auth proxies at scale.
Proven track record of leading large-scale service extractions or monolith-to-microservices migrations with minimal customer impact.
Strong proficiency in Golang and building RESTful APIs.
Expertise in SQL-based relational database management systems like MySQL and PostgreSQL.
Solid understanding of distributed systems design patterns and high-throughput, low-latency edge services.
Demonstrated AI-forward engineering experience actively utilizing AI coding assistants in daily development workflows.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Nice to Have

Experience with identity platforms and standards implementations such as Keycloak, Auth0, Okta, or Ory.
Familiarity with service mesh and edge technologies like Envoy, Istio, rate limiting, and WAF integration.
Background in threat modeling, secure design reviews, and common authentication attack vectors.
Proficiency in observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic.
Prior experience in fintech, payments, Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), or consumer lending alongside PCI-DSS or SOC 2 compliance familiarity.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
