Principal Scientist, Translational Data Science
About this role
Parabilis Medicines is building a proprietary class of alpha-helical peptides known as Helicons to modulate intracellular proteins that have historically been considered undruggable. This senior scientific leadership role within Translational Medicine focuses on applying computational biology and human disease data to identify, credential, and advance new therapeutic opportunities for preclinical projects.
The incoming scientist will define the computational strategy, integrate internal and external multimodal datasets, and partner closely with experimental colleagues across discovery biology, pharmacology, and chemistry. By driving target rationale, disease context, mechanism of action, and biomarker hypotheses from discovery into clinical development, the successful candidate will help shape the trajectory of novel oncology programs.
What you will do
- Lead computational analyses supporting target identification and credentialing using tumor genomics, transcriptomics, functional genomics, human genetics, and single-cell or spatial data.
- Analyze internal in vitro and in vivo studies to characterize target engagement, mechanism of action, response determinants, and resistance mechanisms.
- Integrate preclinical findings with human disease data to refine indication, patient-selection, biomarker, and combination hypotheses.
- Design statistically rigorous, reproducible analyses across multimodal oncology datasets including DNA sequencing, bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, and functional genomic screens.
- Present concise, decision-oriented recommendations to scientific teams, leadership, and governance.
- Partner with experimental scientists to translate computational findings into testable biological hypotheses and prioritize follow-up experiments.
What you need
- Hold a PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Genomics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Bring 10 or more years of relevant industry experience in applying computational approaches to oncology drug discovery and translational research.
- Possess deep expertise in cancer biology and the integration of multimodal biological data such as tumor genomics, transcriptomics, functional genomics, and human genetics.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python and/or R along with reproducible computational research practices.
- Show a demonstrated ability to lead complex multidisciplinary scientific work through influence and collaboration.
- Be able to work on-site and attend in-person meetings for the majority of the time.
Nice to have
- Advanced or innovative applications of AI to computational biology and drug discovery
Skills and tech stack
