About this role

MUI is hiring a remote Operations Engineer to build automated internal tools, zero-defect data models, and AI-driven workflows across the organization. This full-time role is ideal for an experienced software professional who wants to apply systems thinking and modern engineering directly to business operations.

Role Overview

MUI is scaling rapidly, and traditional business operations have created bottlenecks for leadership. Rather than hiring a conventional IT team, MUI treats internal company operations as an engineering problem. As an Operations Engineer, you will act as a hands-on force multiplier across Finance, GTM, People, and Product. You will operate autonomously in a fully remote and asynchronous environment, leveraging your technical expertise to eliminate manual, repetitive tasks and streamline company workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Own, maintain, and connect the internal software stack, including CRM, billing, accounting platforms, internal databases, and analytics dashboards.
Identify, prototype, and build custom scripts using SQL and JavaScript, alongside AI agents and low-code integrations, to remove manual tasks across departments.
Partner with Sales and Marketing to streamline lead pipelines, customer data enrichment, conversion funnels, and website updates.
Build and maintain reliable data pipelines, operational dashboards, and data models to drive strategic decision-making.
Apply Lean principles and systems analysis to map company workflows, identify operational bottlenecks, and implement technological solutions.
Act as a direct execution arm for executive leadership by resolving cross-cutting technical issues across products, vendors, and internal operations.

Requirements

High agency, cross-functional judgment, and a self-directed problem-solving approach that thrives in ambiguity.
High conscientiousness and detail rigor with a commitment to zero-defect execution and immaculate documentation.
Technical mastery over core SaaS ecosystems such as CRM, billing, accounting, and API integrations.
Full-stack engineering proficiency in TypeScript and SQL to quickly build internal tools, scripts, and integrations.
Experience applying Lean principles and systems thinking to map workflows and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
Track record of designing reliable data pipelines, zero-defect data models, and actionable BI dashboards.
Hands-on experience with modern AI workflows, LLM APIs, and low-code orchestration engines.
4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years building internal tools, data pipelines, or cross-functional business automation.

Nice to Have

Prior experience as an early-stage startup founder, Technical Operations Lead, GTM Engineer, Finance Ops Engineer, or Principal Engineer with cross-functional scope.
Experience with React, Next.js, and the MUI tool ecosystem.
Deep familiarity with open-source ecosystems, developer tools, or product-led growth telemetry metrics.
Background in applying Lean principles within knowledge work or software development contexts.

React
TypeScript
JavaScript
LLM APIs and Agentic Frameworks
Low-code orchestration engines (such as Zapier, Make, Pipedream, n8n)
