Based in San Francisco, Mach9 seeks a mid-career ML Infrastructure Engineer to develop and sustain production AI systems for civil engineering and surveying. Role Overview

The ML Infrastructure Engineer at Mach9 manages the systems driving production artificial intelligence models used in surveying and civil engineering. The position involves working with extensive labeled survey data, image segmentation networks, and three-dimensional prediction models that supply real-time inference to field engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Design and construct a centralized platform to version training data, generated datasets, and model artifacts with complete lineage tracking from raw sources to outputs.
Establish and maintain dependable, reproducible machine learning training and data generation pipelines.
Convert existing training and data generation scripts into structured, testable, and maintainable units.
Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment workflows for data pipelines and training runs with automated checks and regression detection.
Construct internal tools allowing machine learning engineers to initiate, track, and troubleshoot training tasks easily.
Enhance and scale real-time inference services for production latency and throughput via profiling, batching, and resource-efficient serving.
Manage the deployment sequence from model artifacts to production endpoints to guarantee safe rollouts, rollbacks, and observation.

Requirements

Three or more years of professional experience in related areas.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Effective communication abilities to collaborate with machine learning researchers and engineers and translate workflows into stable systems.
Background in creating data versioning, artifact management, or dataset lineage systems.
Practical familiarity with machine learning pipeline orchestration software.
Experience optimizing model serving and inference by addressing latency, memory reduction, or real-time scaling.
Capability to read and restructure machine learning training code to ensure pipeline reliability.
Proficiency in Python and PyTorch.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with Amazon Web Services infrastructure.
Background in containerized machine learning processes and GPU-accelerated training environments.
Practical knowledge of model optimization methods such as quantization, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, or distillation.
Understanding of infrastructure-as-code technologies.
Experience operating machine learning systems processing large unstructured datasets like imagery, three-dimensional data, or sensor feeds.
