Role Overview

Clera seeks a Mid-Level AI Engineer to join the core product team in San Francisco. The position focuses on building agentic systems that automate multi-step workflows across regulated and enterprise environments such as healthcare, legal, fintech, logistics, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Construct and maintain agentic systems for workflow automation across complex enterprise domains.
Manage retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, vector databases, embeddings, and indexing infrastructure.
Build multi-agent orchestration, tool-calling, memory, and reasoning features.
Create testing, evaluation, safety, and monitoring mechanisms to track performance and prevent regressions.
Deliver full-stack products by creating APIs, data models, and writing frontend and backend code.
Partner with leadership, product, and design teams to prioritize tasks using telemetry and user feedback.

Requirements

Possess two to eight years of software engineering experience with shipped products, alongside professional AI engineering experience.
Demonstrate production deployment experience with large language model services including prompt design and orchestration.
Show proficiency in Python, TypeScript, React, cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, and databases.
Apply working knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and embeddings.
Bring background in designing high-throughput, API-driven systems and real-time product features.
Build automated tests, monitoring, and evaluations for production artificial intelligence systems.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with workflow frameworks such as LangGraph or CrewAI, and orchestration tools like Temporal or Trigger.
Background in enterprise, multi-tenant, or regulated industry systems.
