Role Overview

The Machine Learning Engineering Manager oversees two teams of four to six machine learning engineers and mathematicians focusing on esports verticals like MOBA and FPS titles. This position acts as the crucial technical bridge connecting teams with product managers, infrastructure experts, and game specialists. The professional in this role ensures high-level strategic alignment, turning complex technical workflows into clear business achievements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead two distinct teams concentrating on different esports verticals, covering staffing needs, hiring, and performance management.
Set standards for leveraging AI tools, encouraging experimentation, and evaluating impact on delivery.
Partner with senior team members and product managers to shape the technical roadmap and business goals.
Review and challenge high-level technical decisions regarding machine learning architecture, validation, and model development.
Support MLOps and infrastructure best practices to unblock teams and evaluate new AI tooling.
Own the agile delivery process, balancing research and development with reliable execution.
Manage cross-team dependencies and represent the groups externally during collaborative initiatives.

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience working as a machine learning engineer.
Solid understanding of model development and validation practices, challenges, and pitfalls.
Practical background working with MLOps.
Concrete experience utilizing AI tools to speed up machine learning workflows, such as prototyping, validation, and code generation.
At least 3 years of experience leading a team of 5 to 10 people focused on machine learning or mathematical models.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills to track progress across multiple teams and provide constructive feedback.

Professional background in sports analytics, betting, quantitative finance, or trading.
