Role Overview

Good Inside is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join the engineering team in New York. This position suits an experienced backend specialist with a strong talent for deploying intelligent, production-grade features into live consumer applications.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power machine learning-driven features across the platform.
Integrate and orchestrate machine learning models and third-party APIs, including large language models, recommendation engines, and embedding services, into production systems.
Construct data pipelines and infrastructure to support real-time personalization, feature storage, and model serving.
Partner closely with product, mobile, and design teams to translate advanced capabilities into user-facing product features.
Maintain full ownership over the reliability, performance, and scalability of machine learning-adjacent backend architecture.
Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code while providing clear documentation for architectural decisions and project handoffs.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience with a heavy emphasis on backend development.
At least 2 years of in-house professional experience working specifically as a machine learning engineer.
Demonstrated track record of shipping machine learning-powered features or products into active production environments.
Working knowledge of core machine learning concepts, such as embeddings, classification, recommendation engines, and large language models.
Hands-on background integrating machine learning APIs and services like OpenAI, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, HuggingFace, or AWS SageMaker.
Proficiency in Python alongside experience in other backend programming languages such as Java or TypeScript.
Experience working with major cloud infrastructure platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Familiarity with data stores and pipelines suited for machine learning workloads, such as vector databases, feature stores, and streaming systems.
Possess a Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

Previous experience helping a high-growth startup scale and navigate early challenges.
Practical background in LLM application development, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and conversational artificial intelligence.
Infrastructure and DevOps fluency encompassing continuous integration and deployment, monitoring, observability, and production-readiness.
Prior professional exposure building recommendation systems, personalization engines, or content ranking algorithms for consumer-facing products.
