Role Overview

Clera is hiring a full-time Lead Research Engineer, Data Quality to direct the data quality team at an early-stage artificial intelligence company. The position is available on-site in the United States, with Singapore also listed as a work location.

Key Responsibilities

Establish the data quality strategy and construct systems to assess thousands of tasks spanning multiple data sources and workflows.
Create scalable validation methods for synthetic data, covering failure-mode analysis, task mutation checks, and trajectory auditing.
Formulate metrics, experiments, quality standards, and processes to evaluate agent outputs.
Collaborate with research engineers, domain experts, and data vendors to troubleshoot quality problems and enhance data generation.
Translate research findings into production tools, dashboards, validation pipelines, and feedback loops.
Guide research engineers and elevate technical rigor within the team.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of research or engineering background creating artificial intelligence or machine learning data evaluation or quality systems.
Advanced competence in Python, Docker, and Linux.
Background in directing technical projects or teams from the initial problem definition through implementation and iteration.
Deep knowledge of artificial intelligence evaluations, post-training, and the attributes that render agent training data realistic, learnable, diverse, reliable, and useful.
Background in validating synthetic data at scale and converting domain expertise into scalable review or generation workflows.
Strong written communication skills and the ability to operate independently in an early-stage setting.
