Octave needs a technical leader to scale its data platform and shape the future of its behavioral health care delivery through artificial intelligence and machine learning. This role exists to bridge clinical, product, and business goals by building a reliable data foundation and translating emerging technologies into practical solutions for patients and providers.
The person stepping into this position will direct the technical roadmap, manage the existing data platform team, and remain hands-on with architecture and prototyping. Success in this role requires a blend of strategic vision and engineering depth, allowing someone to balance long-term platform investments with rapid, pragmatic execution in a growing organization.
What you will do
- Develop and own the technical strategy and roadmap for Octave's data platform, artificial intelligence, and machine learning capabilities.
- Partner with product and cross-functional leaders to identify high-value opportunities where data science and machine learning create meaningful impact.
- Establish rigorous approaches for model evaluation, experimentation, observability, security, and responsible AI practices.
- Oversee the architecture and evolution of the centralized data platform to ensure data reliability, scalability, governance, and security.
- Collaborate with decentralized analytics teams to remove technical bottlenecks, improve data access, and establish shared technical standards.
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team by hiring talent, defining performance expectations, and supporting employee development.
What you need
- Demonstrated experience leading data platform, data science, or machine learning engineering teams in a growing organization.
- Strong background in defining technical vision, setting architectural direction, and contributing directly to complex engineering problems.
- Extensive experience scaling centralized data platforms, data infrastructure, and governance models.
- Proven ability to partner with product and business leaders to translate business objectives into technical initiatives.
- Familiarity with traditional machine learning, predictive modeling, generative AI, and large language model systems.
