Role Overview

The Group Lead Edge AI takes charge of the team building on-device artificial intelligence solutions. The professional in this role defines technical directions, makes hardware and architecture decisions, and engages in hands-on debugging and profiling.

Key Responsibilities

Drive on-device AI initiatives from initial research to fully delivered products.
Hire, mentor, and develop edge AI engineers within the team.
Transition trained models into production environments using quantization, pruning, and distillation techniques for embedded accelerators like NVIDIA Jetson and Qualcomm IQ-series.
Manage the complete toolchain, covering model export, inference optimization frameworks such as ONNX, TensorRT, and AIMET, and SDKs that translate models into robot behaviors.
Collaborate across functional units including hardware, software, and product teams to maximize performance within strict latency, energy, and memory constraints.
Establish quality standards by overseeing benchmarking, on-device evaluation, and performance regression testing across deployed hardware targets.
Resolve complex issues independently, including debugging accuracy drops after quantization and addressing latency spikes.

Requirements

Master or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in machine learning or embedded AI engineering.
At least 2 years of technical leadership experience with a proven track record of production deployments on embedded accelerators.
Practical background working with embedded AI hardware platforms like NVIDIA Jetson or Qualcomm IQ-series.
Deep understanding of model optimization techniques including quantization, pruning, distillation, and architecture search.
Proficiency in Python and C++, along with experience using PyTorch, Embedded Linux, and low-level profiling.
Fluent command of the English language, with German language skills at B2 to C1 level considered an advantage.
