Role Overview

Clera is seeking a Founding Machine Learning Engineer to join its team on-site in Munich. The person in this position will establish the ML roadmap, shape post-training and agent systems, and help expand the technical team.

Key Responsibilities

Build and manage post-training data pipelines by structuring, filtering, and scoring experimental trajectories.
Create benchmarks and evaluations to measure model planning, reasoning, and experimental progress.
Construct agent environments, observability systems, replay infrastructure, and tool interfaces.
Implement data validation and provenance tracking to ensure trajectory quality.
Determine ML roadmap priorities across systems, experiments, and hiring while guiding technical direction.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years working in machine learning engineering roles that delivered production ML systems.
Proficiency in Python and systems-level programming, backed by software engineering experience in ML infrastructure.
Practical background handling post-training data pipelines for structuring, filtering, and scoring.
Familiarity with designing and applying model benchmarks and evaluation frameworks.
Understanding of trajectory data, reinforcement learning, reward modeling, agent decision-making, and environment design.
Experience developing replay, debugging, observability, data validation, provenance, tool interface, or reinforcement learning training systems.
Capacity to connect research to production while taking ownership in an ambiguous environment.

Nice to Have

Background working at a frontier AI lab.
Experience in large-scale post-training or evaluations.
