This position suits an experienced engineer ready to transition from hands-on technical execution to building and leading a technical team.

Role Overview

Clera seeks its first technical hire to direct the engineering strategy for natural language processing systems and infrastructure. The professional in this position will handle initial development before expanding into a leadership capacity to guide future technical personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Design and construct production-grade data pipelines, natural language processing workflows, machine learning integrations, continuous integration and deployment processes, monitoring systems, and deployment mechanisms for cloud or on-premises environments.
Direct the technical roadmap, ensuring a balance between implementation speed, system security, and operational quality.
Deliver the initial production release, establishing foundational infrastructure and security frameworks.
Establish engineering benchmarks, direct technical strategies, and recruit and supervise future technical staff.
Collaborate directly with company founders and clients to refine product capabilities.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of professional background creating and managing data-intensive or natural language processing applications, covering data ingestion, entity resolution, deduplication, messaging queues, and pipeline orchestration.
Proficiency in Python alongside standard production methodologies such as automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, and tracking for data and model drift.
Practical background using PostgreSQL alongside graph databases, vector stores, or search tools, as well as working with embeddings, vector retrieval, and language models.
Capability to develop straightforward application programming interfaces and interfaces for analysts utilizing React, Vue, or comparable frameworks.
Experience managing production system architecture and deployment across both cloud infrastructure and local installations.
Eligibility and readiness to secure a security clearance.

Nice to Have

Background in web data acquisition.
Experience with customer-hosted deployments.
Proficiency in the German language.
